The shim your Takoon baseplate is missing to find the right angle.

Many riders spend months changing wings or stabilisers when the problem is actually the board's trim. This rake shim slides between the Takoon baseplate and your board's track box and changes the foil's angle of attack. Half a degree already changes the feel: earlier take-off, firmer front-foot support, control regained at speed.

The material makes all the difference

A shim is only useful if its angle stays the one it was designed for. PLA, used in most 3D-printed shims, softens in heat: a few hours in a car boot in July is enough to make it creep under the screws' load.

We print in PETG, resistant to salt water and UV-stable, with a minimum thickness of 15 mm that gives real mechanical strength under the baseplate. No cracks, no sagging, no angle drift.

Which angle for which feel?

A shim lifts the board's nose relative to the foil. In practice: the bigger the angle, the earlier you take off and the higher the board stays. On the other hand, too much angle gives a pitched-up feeling at high speed.

0.8° – 1.0°: fine adjustment, you are almost at the right setting.
1.2° – 1.5°: the most popular choice in wing foil.
2.0°: strong correction, very high-lift setups or racing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need a shim?
If you have to push hard on your front foot to stay in flight, or if the board won't come out of the water despite a suitable wing, a positive shim often solves the problem.

Which screws should I use?
Screws at least 15 mm longer than the original ones. Tighten progressively, in a cross pattern, without forcing.

Rake shim and angle shim, is it the same thing?
Yes. It's also called a wedge. “Rake” refers to the foil's angle of attack relative to the board.
