This rake shim fits between your AFS foil baseplate and your board's track box. By changing the angle of attack, you raise or lower the board's nose without touching your wing settings: more comfort and speed through the race course, more control and commitment in wave turns.
Why PETG and not PLA?
Most 3D-printed shims you can find are made of PLA. This material softens and deforms as soon as it heats up, and a board left in the sun on the sand gets hot very quickly. We print in PETG: resistant to salt water, UV-stable, it keeps its stiffness and geometry season after season.
With a minimum thickness of 15 mm, the shim absorbs the loads the mast and fuselage transmit to the baseplate, without cracking or premature deformation.

Which shim angle should I choose?
0.8° to 1.0° : fine correction, to refine a setting already close to what you want.
1.2° to 1.5° : the most common compromise in wing foil. Lifts the nose and makes take-off easier.
2.0° : strong correction, useful for racing or with a very high-lift front wing.
If in doubt, start with 1.2°.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to change the baseplate screws?
Yes, in most cases. A 15 mm shim requires longer screws: add the shim thickness to the length of your current screws.
Rake shim, angle shim or wedge: what's the difference?
None, they are three names for the same product. “Rake” refers to the foil's angle of attack relative to the board.
Does the shim weaken the setup?
No, as long as you use screws of the right length and tighten progressively in a cross pattern.
